Paducah Power System leaders say they’ve figured out a way to help lower your power bill, but it will take four years before you notice the change.
The Paducah Power board approved a contract with Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency Wednesday. The contract starts in 2019, but Paducah Power leaders say they won’t see any money from the contract until the 2020 budget.
In the contract, Paducah Power will sell the energy it generates from its peaking plant that it doesn’t use. It’s a 10-year contract. Over the first three years, KYMEA will pay $4 million for Paducah Power energy.
