Power Conservation Alert
Beginning June 8, 2026, 12:00 EST until June 8, 2026, 22:00 EST
Due to warmer-than-normal temperatures, generation outages, and renewable energy forecasts within the MISO Transmission and Balancing Authority, we are asking our members’ customers to voluntarily conserve electricity.
We are encouraging our members' customers to reduce their electricity use during this time to save money now and later. Participation will lower electric use throughout the community and reduce utility energy costs over time. The more people who participate, the bigger the impact on the community.
Here are some ways that customers can help:
- Turn your thermostat up 2-3 degrees
- Limit the use of large appliances (dishwasher, dryer, oven, etc.)
- Turn off nonessential lights and electronics.
- Close doors to unused rooms and keep your blinds and drapes closed to keep the heat out.
This is a voluntary action that is triggered to mitigate the effects of tight power supply and transmission events. Please monitor our website at www.kymea.org or LinkedIn for alerts to return to routine operating conditions.
